Michael Cooper (born 1930) is a historian. A Jesuit,〔Thomas W. Barker, (review of ''The Japanese Mission to Europe, 1582-1590'' ), ''Graduate Journal of Asia-Pacific Studies'' 6:1 (2008), pp.103-105〕 Cooper has written extensively on 15th- and 16th-century encounters between Jesuit missionaries and Japan.
